Kenyan festival seeks films on children and youth PDF Print

A Kenyan film festival is seeking  fictional, animated, drama, documentaries, experimental films and creatively packaged  video games and music videos that provide strong role models to children and youth. The deadline is April 15, 2010.

The festival, called Lola Kenya Screen, showcases and awards films but also aims to place the audiovisual media tools in the hands of children and youth through trainings and workshops. The annual event will take place in August 2010.

Morocco-Europe Cultural Exchange Programme for Young People PDF Print

The 4th of January is the last available day to sign up for the Xchange 2010 which will take place in Morocco, in March 2010. Global Xchange works with teams of up to 18 young people (aged 18-25), with equal numbers coming from the UK and from other countries. The teams are formed to reflect diversity in terms of geography, ethnicity, ability, education and gender. Together, in cross-cultural counterpart pairs, they live with host families and work in host communities, for up to three months in the UK and three months in Morocco. This programme is a partnership between Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and the British Council.

Interested applicants must have the following:

-  a positive and realistic commitment to the programme

·  a genuine commitment to learning

·  ability to solve problems

·  flexibility and adaptability

·  self confidence

·  sensitivity to the needs of others

Women Making Airwaves for Peace (WMAP) is a six-day cross-cultural radio seminar which will take place in Bangalore (February 20-23). The event aims to gather around 30 women community radio broadcasters from the South and Central Asia. The themes treated will be: community radio and peace building, climate change and disaster management, in conjunction with the 2nd AMARC Asia Pacific Community Radio Conference in Bangalore.
