MONITORING- 'Ethnic Images in South-East Europe' |
| April/
Belgrade, Serbia |
|
In April 2002 MDI held a press conference in Belgrade to promote
the findings of its media monitoring in the region; "Mirroring
Images: Ethnic Minorities in the South East European Press".
The monitoring was conducted under the leadership of
MDI's project leader Dr. Snjezana Milivojevic. She trained a 10-member multi-national
team on content analysis. The team analysed the two leading newspapers in each
of their countries for a period of one month in November 2001. The project leader
then processed the data from the monitoring, produced case studies and a comparative
analysis that formed the report "Mirroring Images: Ethnic Minorities in
the South East European Press". The results of the monitoring now form
part of MDI's Media Monitoring Manual, by Dr.
Snjezana Milivojevic. It offers a surveying
ABC for both first time monitors and those with more experience. It is a comprehensive
resource for anyone wanting to find out how the media in their region is depicting
minorities. More
than 20 journalists as well as representatives from NGOs and international bodies
attended. Results
