ANEM
is a business association of 29 radio and 16 TV stations and over 60 affiliates.
ANEM Radio Network has coverage of 45% of territory of Serbia (without Kosovo)
and is listened by 60% of population, while ANEM TV Network covers 35% of the
same territory and is watched by 50% of the population.
From
the outset, ANEM 's overarching aim has been to protect independent media from
pressures of the former regime, strengthen through a Network the position of professional
broadcast media across Serbia and Montenegro, and thus better serve the information
needs of listeners and viewers. In 1993, a group of stations - Radio
B92, Belgrade, Radio Boom 93, Pozarevac, Radio Antena M, Podgorica, Radio Bajina
Basta, Radio Smederevo, Radio Kragujevac, and NTV Studio B, Belgrade - founded
the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM). The goal was to unite
existing isolated media as the first step towards breaking the state-controlled
media's monopoly. ANEM became a legal entity in December 1997. ANEM was
registered under Serbian Company law as a business association of three (founding)
associate members (Radio B92, Radio Boom 92 and RTV Bajina Basta) and around 30
stations, which became fulltime members in May 2001, at the first Assembly after
the change of power. Around 100 radio and TV stations applied for membership
into Association and some of them became affiliate members. LEGAL
HELP The important part of ANEM activities is the participation of ANEM
experts in creation of media laws (Broadcasting law, Public Information Law, Law
on Advertising, Freedom of the Information Act). Also, regarding the member stations,
ANEM legal service coordinates lawyers from ANEM network and represents the members
in courts and bodies based in Belgrade. TRAINING
