STINA,
founded in 1991, is an independent news agency located in Split, Croatia.
Since then, STINA grew up into a respectable news agency that has been cooperating
with numerous media and institutions in the country and abroad.
During that
time, STINA developed specific, but also various information program that is realized
via diverse services and projects which are treating issues of democratization,
development of civil society, socialand economic reforms, human and minority rights,
media freedom,etc.
Within this context, STINA has been especially developing
informative and educational projects which makes it a unique specialized news
agency in Croatia.
STINA momentarily collaborates with more than 100
media: in Croatia, with independent media in other states from the regionsof former
Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Macedonia,FRY-Serbia, Montenegro,
Kosovo), with independent media from Eastern and Central Europe and former Soviet
Union (Romania,Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Russia,Estonia,
Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgystan) and some western media
(USA, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden etc).
Also, some information
services and projects organized by STINA are used by various international organizations,
research and university centres and many NGOs.
STINAs headquarter is based
in Split.
STINA has a correspondence and collaboration net in Croatia, Bosnia
and Herzegovina and other regions of former Yugoslavia, Central and eastern Europe.
This collaboration net consists of about 50 co-workers.
STINA has a daily
service in the Croatian language that analytically covers most significant occurrences
in Croatia and events and processes in parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
STINA
also emits analysis, comments, interviews, reports which are focused on the problems
of Human rights, interethnic relations and tolerance, conflict resolutions, development
of civil societya and democratic institutions, multicultural cooperation , implementation
of political, social and economic reforms.
STINA has a weekly service
in English language for the Eastern and Central Europe (Network of Independent
Journalists) which provides independent media in this region with analytic articles
about political , economic, social, ethnic and other problems and processes of
post-totalitarian societies in transition.
STINA also realizes special
projects like news information service for refugees (special radio shows, newsletters,
etc.), special information items related to elections , service for inter-ethnic
relations and minority rights, special analysis of the media situatiion etc.
