At the start of the 21st century, it is clear that the two terms which should be at the centre
of media education work across a broad range of topics are ‘hybridity’ and ‘globalisation’.

These two concepts are central to the way our popular culture is changing, as well as our sense of identity, both national and personal. In the introduction at this article, Roy Stafford explores the concepts and suggests some tentative approaches to media education with a more avowedly internationalist outlook.
