The Magrehbian Social Forum proposes an alternative to create a Maghrebian space of peace, prosperity and democracy. It seeks to go beyond the European wish to turn the Maghreb into their own eldorado, and is wary of the inherent risks of this.
It therefore supports the necessity of migrants’ participation towards a People’s Maghreb, and the necessity to defend the rights of migrants in their host countries. It wants to re-establish the Maghreb’s position in continental and world affairs, by opening South/South dialogue, reaffirming its role as a negotiator in Africa’s conflicts, ensuring women’s presence in all construction process etc.
