The Media Diversity Institute (MDI) representative attended a meeting with No Hate Speech Movement, a campaign of the Council of Europe. The meeting was held in preparations for a seminar on antisemitism to be held early 2017. Several representatives from organisations operating in the field of tackling antisemitism and other types of racism, including MDI, CEJI and ENAR, as well as No hate Speech Movement members, exchanged ideas and opinions. MDI shared its experience from the recently finished project Get the Trolls Out which focussed on combatting antisemitism in the European (online) media.
In the meeting it was established who would benefit from a seminar about antisemitism and what the content and outputs of the seminar should be. The emphasis was put on that the outcomes and outputs should include a coalition of several organisations who can collectively work to combat antisemitism.
In addition, organisations as well as individuals should be made aware of pre-existing materials and recommendations that are available to work with to guide the battle against antisemitism in Europe. Also, in the seminar the participants can work on a set of recommendations to compliment any existing ones.
The seminar will be held early 2017, and a call for participation will be released by the No Hate Speech Movement.
