mdi-resources-thumbThe ‘Resources’ section is split into two main parts: ‘General Resources’ and ‘Links’:

General Resources

The ‘General Resources’ section contains a wide range of resources from all over the world useful for all those involved in the Media and/or Diversity field, such as:

  • Journalists
  • Editors
  • Programme makers
  • Journalism and communication academics
  • Journalism and communication students
  • Civil Society Organisations
  • Governmental organisations

 

These resources include:

  • Manuals/Handbooks/Guidelines
  • Books/Publications
  • Reports/Studies (including media monitoring)
  • Media Relations/Advocacy resources
  • Training/Education Materials (any resources useful for training or academia)
  • Media Content (articles, TV & Radio programmes, good and bad examples of diversity coverage etc).
  • Initiatives & Projects
  • Other Web Resources

 

Please note: although the website’s ambitions are global and there are resources from all over the world to be found here, you’ll find at the present time that the focus is European. With time we hope to expand the content of the resources to be truly global.  Please also note that the website is new (October 2009), so while initially there may not be a huge amount of content, this will expand rapidly, so please check back regularly. 

There are 4 different ways to search the resources database:

  1. Using the ‘Keyword Search’ to search for any word(s) you want (e.g. Roma)
  2. Using the ‘Advanced Search’ facility to filter or narrow the available resources using a choice of three categories: Type of Resource; Type of Diversity; Region. For example ‘Manuals/Handbooks/Guidelines’ [about] ‘Disability & Mental Illness’ [relevant to] ‘Western Europe’.
  3. Choosing a particular ‘Theme’, such as Conflict, Media Ethics & Diversity, or Social Diversity Models (Integration, Multiculturalism, Interculturalism, Assimilation etc) etc, in order to see all resources related to that theme.

  4. Choosing a ‘Language’ in order to see all resources available in that language.

Links

The ‘Links’ section primarily contains links to other organisations around the world whose work is related to the field of media and diversity, and is organised according to type of organisation, and then by geographical region (see menu on left).

There are also links to scholarships and funding sources, and awards related to media and diversity.
