Fellowship available to cover 65th UN General Assembly in New York PDF Print

Journalists from developing nations between the ages of 25 and 35 are encouraged to apply to a fellowship program that will send recipients to New York for approximately two months to cover the United Nations General Assembly. Deadline: April 9.

Applicants to the fellowship, called the Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship Fund for Journalists 2010, must be currently employed by a legitimate media organization. Fellowships will pay travel and accomodations in New York for approximately two months as well as a per diem allowance.

Applications will not be accepted from Egypt, Pakistan, Phillipines and Ghana, as those were the winning nations of 2009.

The Carter Center Mental Health Program in Atlanta, GA provides six one-year fellowships for U.S. journalists to report on a selected topic regarding mental health or mental illnesses. The Fellowships are designed to increase accurate reporting on mental health issues and decrease incorrect, stereotypical information.

Applications are being accepted for the 2010 programme for Balkan journalists, 'Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence' jointly run by Robert Bosch Stiftung and ERSTE Stiftung in cooperation with the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN).

Journalists from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania or Serbia, are encouraged to submit research proposals on 2010’s theme -TABOO.

Each year ten journalists are chosen, through an open competition, to receive funding and professional support to research and report on a topic of regional and European importance.
