Morocco_OnsiteHow about the topic of human rights to be taught at Moroccan universities? This idea came from Bouchemmama Med, an activist at Moroccan NGO Mouvement Rihanate and one of the participants in the Media Diversity Institute (MDI) workshops on digital communication skills.

Convinced that the human rights should be taught at the high educational level, Bouchemmama started an Avaaz online campaign and promoted the idea using social media and other tools. He was also contacted by a Moroccan journalist via Twitter and then interviewed on the very same subject.

“MDI workshops made us aware of social media advantages, how to exploit them in order to achieve the main aims of our NGOs by creating an impact through the power of creativity and sharing”, explained Bouchemmama the second time he showed up for the MDI on-site consultancy with the members of CSOs in Morocco.

Some other participants showed the great interest in video campaigning and exploring other digital platforms rather than Facebook as the young activists in Morocco rely on it the most.

The training sessions in Rabat, Sale and Casablanca were conducted by MDI trainer Dasha Ilic.

They are part of the project “Promoting Freedom of Expression, Diversity and Inclusion in Morocco”, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), which is running until 2016.
